Description

Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya in northeast India, boasts manicured gardens at Lady Hydari Park and Ward’s Lake, surrounded by walking trails. To the north, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays of the region’s native people. The area also includes the Elephant Falls to the southwest and the forested Shillong Peak to the east, offering stunning city views.

Guwahati is a sprawling city located next to the Brahmaputra River in the northeastern Indian state of Assam. It is well-known for its holy sites, such as the hilltop Kamakhya Temple, which features shrines dedicated to the Hindu deities Shiva and Vishnu. To the east, the 18th-century Navagraha Temple serves as an astronomical center with planetary shrines. Additionally, the Umananda Temple, dedicated to Shiva and adorned with engravings, is situated on Peacock Island in the river.

Itinerary

Day 1 Guwahati Airport - Shillong (130 Kms/ 3 ½ hrs drive)

Pickup from Guwahati airport in the morning and will visit Maa Kamakhya Temple for blessings. Later proceed to the mesmerising Shillong Trip by Car would be the Umiam Lake which is 15 km before Shillong. It is also popularly known as Badapani by the locals. One can enjoy water sports like kayaking, boating etc. is also available for a nominal charge. Later we move to shillong for overnight stay.

Day 2 Shillong to Cherapunji - transfer including en route sightseeing

After breakfast, Check-out from Shillong hotel and proceed to the mesmerising Cherrapunji also known as Sohra. On the way we will visit Elephant falls and Shillong peak. Later proceed to cherrapunjee also known as Sohra. On the way, we will come across several waterfalls, limestone caves, striking root bridges, and other natural sites to provide several activities. The tour itinerary includes Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters falls, Mawsmai falls, and also enjoy some cave exploration at the Mawsmai cave. After a hectic yet a wonderful day, check-in to Cherrapunjee Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3 Cherapunji to Shillong - via Dawki & Mawlynnong Village

After enjoying a healthy breakfast go on a picturesque drive to Mawlynnong village which is located in the East Khasi Hills District along the India-Bangladesh border. It was awarded as the cleanest village in Asia in the year 2003 and is also known as “God’s Own Garden”. See the Khasi way of life and meet the locals. Then visit Dawki where boating on the Umngot river should be a ‘must’ on your to-do-list. From photography point of view, click pictures from a top view of the boats. It appears as if the boats are flying in the air. Then spend some time at the Indo-Bangladesh border. Later return back to Shillong for overnight stay..

Day 4 Shillong to Guwahati - Transfer and sightseeing

After having breakfast travel to Guwahati from Shillong including enroute sightseeing and night stay in Guwahati

Day 5 Guwahati to Guwahati Airport - Drop

After breakfast return drop to Guwahati Airport from Guwahati.
