King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, often referred to as the “Father of Modern Bhutan,” played a crucial role in modernizing the country while trying to preserve its cultural identity. His reforms laid the groundwork for Bhutan’s eventual shift to a constitutional monarchy, which was formally enacted in 2008 under the reign of his son, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
The rapid development in transportation and infrastructure, such as the road from Phuntsholing to Thimphu, has dramatically changed how Bhutanese interact with the outside world while still maintaining their cultural integrity. Day 1 Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Railway Station to Phuentsholing - Transfer and sightseeing
Pickup from Bagdogra Airport and travel to Phuentsholing (Bhutan) including enroute sightseeing like Jaldapara National Park and Indo-Bhutan Border. Night stay in Bhutan.
Day 2 Phuentsholing to Thimpu - Transfer and sightseeing
After breakfast complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival check in at the hotel.
Day 3 Thimpu to Thimpu - Fullday Sightseeing
After having breakfast visit local sightseeing of Thimpu like National Post Office, the Clock Tower Square, the Motithang Takin Preserve, Tango and Chari Monasteries, Buddha Dordenma, National Memorial Chorten, Centenary Farmers Market, Semtokha Dzong and night stay in Thimpu.
Day 4 Thimpu to Punaka - Transfer and sightseeing
After breakfast travel to Punaka from Thimpu including en route sightseeing like Paro Taktsang, Dochula Pass, and Buddha Dordenma Statue etc , and night stay in Punaka.
Day 5 Punaka to Punaka - Full day sightseeing
After breakfast visit local sight seeing of Punaka and overnight stay in Punaka.
Day 6 Punaka to Paro - Transfer and sightseeing
After breakfast travel to Paro from Punaka including en route sightseeing and night stay in Paro.
Day 7 Paro - Fullday sightseeing and Transfer
After breakfast visit local sightseeing of Paro like Trongsa Dzong/ Kila Gomba/ Nature Trail Hike/ Phobjikha Retreat/ Fertility Hike/ Punakha Dzong/ Ancient Trail Hike/ Ancient Temples in Bumthang & Retreat/ Khamsum Yueling Hike/ Burning Lake/ Tashichhoe Dzong/ Rinpung Dzong/ Zorig Chusum/ Buddha Gang/ Farmer's Market/ Archery Match. And night stay in Paro.
Day 8 Paro to Phuentsholing - Transfer and sightseeing
After having breakfast travel to Phuentsholing from Paro including en route sightseeing
Day 9 Phuentsholing to Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Railway Station - Return drop
After having breakfast return drop to Bagdogra Airport/NJP from Phuentsholing
